State Police Beat

State Police Troop M Fogelsville say Douglas Harvey, 44, was charged with driving under the influence, recklessly endangering another person and related summary violation 3:07 a.m. Aug. 30 after he allegedly drove the wrong way on I-78, Upper Macungie Township.

According to police, around the same time Troopers Van Fleet and Deangeles were traveling eastbound on I-78 near mile marker 46, when they were dispatched for a report of a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes between mile markers 50 and 49.

Troopers arrived in the area of Adams Road and allegedly saw Harvey’s vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes.

They tried stopping him but to no avail.

Harvey’s vehicle continued westbound and both troopers turned around and followed his vehicle.

According to police, the driver of a commercial vehicle traveling eastbound apparently saw the situation and maneuvered his vehicle toward Harvey’s vehicle causing it to slow down in the left lane.

Police allege Harvey showed signs of intoxication and was transported to Lehigh County Prison for processing.

Charges against Harvey were filed with District Judge Michael Faulkner, Upper Macungie Township.
