Soccer teams pick up wins
Whitehall defeated Eastburg South 7-0 after exploding for six goals in the second half.
Javaughn Hussett got Whitehall on the board in the first half to make it 1-0. The goal came on an assist from Michael Saccani.
In the second half, Hussett made it 2-0 and the Zephs followed it up with a goal from Anthony Kleckner to make it 3-0. Jesus Lemock made it 4-0 before Kleckner added two more to make it 6-0. Hussett finished the scoring to make it 7-0.
Whitehall boys beat Lehighton 6-2. This time, they were led by four, first-half goals.
Collin Hood started the scoring for the Zephs on an assist from Saccani, but Lehighton tied it 1-1 before Kleckner broke the tie with an assist from Hussett.
Hussett would set up Nick Khouri to make it 3-1 before Hussett found the back of the net thanks to a Kleckner assist that made it 4-1.
Lehighton closed out the first with a goal to cut it to 4-2 before Hussett iced the game with two second half goals, thanks to assists from Saccani and Aziz Atiyeh.
Whitehall also beat Northampton 2-0 in a battle of Bastidas brothers.
The Zephs got a first half goal from Atiyeh on a Kleckner assist and then a Saccani tally in the second made it 2-0. Saccani was set up by Nejmi Kara.
Aaron Sierra picked up the shutout victory in net for the Zephs.
The girls beat Eastburg South 8-0.
Ivanna Jones scored four goals in the win while Kylee Cunningham notched three. Hope Millets had one.
Kylie Saliby had two assists with Maggie Due, Cara Bonshak, Cunningham, Kassidy Cunningham and Jones also adding helpers.
The girls tied Nazareth 0-0 on September 16.
So far this season, both Jones and Kylie Cunningham have nine goals on the year as the Zephs improved to 5-0-1 this season.
Shianne Reimer has 3.5 shutouts this season in net for the Zephyrs.
