Food bank hosts penny party

Northampton Area Food Bank is sponsoring a penny party Sunday, Sept. 27 at Hope Lutheran Church in Cherryville. Doors open at 1 p.m. The event will include refreshments, a raffle and a bake sale. Bring your coins and help support this annual event, which allows the food bank to continue to serve the area.

Northampton Football Booster Club will hold a designer purse bingo Sunday, Sept. 27 at the American Club of Coplay pavilion, 300 Cherry St., Coplay. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and the games begin at 1 p.m. The cost of a ticket includes 20 games of bingo. Extra cards and specials will be available at an additional cost. A Chinese auction and a 50/50 drawing are also planned.

The kitchen will be open for food, drinks and baked goods.

The Northampton Area Historical Society will have its annual fall garage sale 8 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Siegfried Railroad Station, West 21st Street (Route 329).

Donations for the sale are accepted from the public. Drop-off is 6-8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1, and Friday, Oct. 2.

There will be food available for purchase.

The St. John’s Friendly Fifties group will meet at 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 12, in the church social hall, 1343 Newport Ave. Singer Rob Bollimof will entertain.

The Friends of Northampton Area Public Library will be running a bus trip Dec. 11 to the “Vatican Splendors” exhibit at the Franklin Institute. The exhibit includes many artifacts that have never before left Vatican City. The bus leaves from the Northampton Recreation Center at 8 a.m. and arrives back at 6 p.m. The cost of the trip includes transportation, admission and driver’s tip.
