Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk 4 p.m. at The Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley. Light The Night Walk is a fundraising campaign of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society which brings together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors, as well as those lost to the diseases and shine a light on the importance of finding cures and providing access to treatments for blood cancer patients. Friends, families and co-workers form fundraising teams and millions of consumers help by donating at retail outlets. These efforts culminate in inspirational, memorable evening walks in nearly 200 communities across North America each fall.
During these evening leisurely walks, participants carry illuminated lanterns - white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to a blood cancer. For more information, visit www.lightthenight.org/epa.
Lehigh Valley Heart and Stroke Walk, 8:30 a.m. registration; 9 a.m. run start; 10 a.m. walk at Northampton Community College, 3835 Green Pond Road, Bethlehem. Team up with family, friends or co-workers and take strides to fight our community’s number one and number five killers, heart disease and stroke, sponsored by Easton Hospital. The heart walk is a family and pet-friendly charity walk to raise awareness about heart health and raise funds for the American Heart Association. The event will feature a 1.55 mile fitness walk, entertainment and activities for kids and health information. For more information, visit

GFWC PA Woman’s Club of Emmaus monthly meeting 7 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Fifth and Chestnut streets. Members will share a special 75th birthday with Krista Pegnetter, director of the Emmaus Public Library. The club will take orders for Gertrude Hawk Candy. New members are always welcome.

The quarterly meeting of the Hivel Und Dahl Preservation Society will be held 7 p.m. in the Upper Milford Township Building, 5671 Chestnut St., Zionsville. After a short business meeting, Candace K. Perry curator at the Schwenkfelder Library and Heritage Center will speak on the lore of Pennsylvania German folk healing, commonly known as powwow in English or Braucherei in the Pennsylvania German dialect. Fire prevention open house and craft fair 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Citizens Fire Company (Vera Cruz), 4093 Main Road East, Emmaus. Browse the over 30 crafters and vendors, try your luck at our raffle tables, grab some treats at the bake sale and refreshment stand and tour the trucks with our volunteers. Kids activities include a visit with Smokey Bear and fire prevention education by volunteer firefighters. There is no admission fee and free parking.
