Ann S. Brittain died Aug. 30, 2015. Born in Chicago, Ill., she was the daughter of the late William Johnston Stephens and Elizabeth Ann Kift Stephens of Hilton Head Island, S.C. She was the wife of David M. Brittain for 43 years.

She grew up in Bethlehem, attended Ellis School, Pittsburgh, and graduated in 1968 from Shipley School, Bryn Mawr.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Monmouth College, Ill., and a master’s degree in psychology from Fairfield University.

She worked at Gainfield Elementary, Regional School District 15, for 37 years before she retired in 2013. She was the school psychologist on the special education team.

She volunteered with Youth and Family Services for both Southbury and Middlebury, Conn.

In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth (Libby) Ann Brittain of Los Angeles; two brothers, William K. and his wife Madelyn Stephens of Charleston, S.C. and Peter J. Stephens of Orlando, Fla.; nieces; and nephews.
