Betty I. Fister, 89, of Topton, formerly of Allentown, died Sept. 13, 2015, in the Henry Health Care Center of The Lutheran Home at Topton.

She was the wife of the late Paul E. Fister.

Born Sept. 9, 1926, in Allentown, she was the daughter of the late Roy F. and Helen M. (Heilman) Hausman. Born with severe hearing loss, she rose above this handicap by graduating from Allentown High School with honors in 1944.

She was an audit clerk at the former Allentown Hospital for 26 years before retiring in 1989.

Her professional organization membership included; charter membership in the Muhlenberg Medical Center Women’s Auxiliary, membership in the Lehigh Valley Hospital Retirees Association, life member in the Women’s Auxiliary of Muhlenberg College and the Good Shepherd Home Auxiliary.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Topton.

Her survivors include a son, James R. and his wife, Pamela, of Cranberry Township; sisters-in-law, Eleanor A. Snyder and Alma C. Koch, both of New Tripoli.

Her memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Sept. 29, in Deibert Hall (D Building) at The Lutheran Home at Topton, 1 S. Home Ave., Topton.

The family will greet guests following the service at a reception.

A private interment will precede the service at Ebenezer Church Cemetery, New Tripoli.
