State Theatre seeks teen musicians

A local teen band or teen musicians are sought to open for a 7 p.m. Oct. 17 concert by Flintface at the State Theatre for the Arts, Easton. Proceeds benefit the Freddy Awards.

Teens ages 14 - 19 who are attending high school can upload a performance video to YouTube tagged #Takebackyourvoice and fill out an application at statetheatre.org/events/takebackyourvoice and return it to the State Theatre to be considered. Application deadline is Sept. 14.

Based on the videos and applications, 10 acts will be invited to audition 6 p.m. Sept. 24 at the State Theatre where a panel of judges will choose two spots for the concert.

The concert was announced at an Aug. 18 press conference at the State Theatre. Speakers included Shelley Brown, State Theatre President & CEO, Todd Donnelly from The Workshop, and Joe Scorsone, aka Flintface.

Flintface has brought a message of anti-bullying and empowerment to high schools across the United States, including the Lehigh Valley. Flintface’s music combines energetic instrumentation, classic-rock bombast, and soulful melodies woven together into hopeful tales, as exemplified by the latest album, “Hope.”
