Cedar crest

Jenny Offill will visit Cedar Crest College for a reading and book signing 7-8 p.m. Sept. 16.

The event, part of the Visiting Writers Series, will take place in Samuels Theatre on campus.

Offill will read from her latest novel, “Dept. of Speculation,” named by The New York Times Book Review as one of the 10 best books of 2014 as well as a best book of the year by The New Yorker, The Boston Globe, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Vogue.com and Slate.com.

Offill is also the author of the novel “Last Things” chosen as a notable book of the year by The New York Times and was a finalist for The Los Angeles Times First Book Award. She teaches in the writing programs at Queens University of Charlotte, Brooklyn College and Columbia University.

The event is free and open to the public.
