Former Liberty and Syracuse standout Jarrod West has certainly gone through the ups and downs of being a part of the NFL. One day after signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad, West was then released.
West starred at Liberty as a wide receiver and then led the Orangemen with 49 receptions for 700 yards last season.
He bounced around NFL camps during the summer, spending time with the New York Jets and Tennessee Titans before coming into Steelers camp on Aug. 18.
He was then waived on Saturday when the Steelers made cuts to bring their roster to 53 players, but he signed with the practice squad.
That lasted for a day, as the Steelers swapped out four practice squad players for other players at the same position. West was the only practice squad player that spent time with the Steelers in training camp to be cut.
Practice squad players make a minimum of $6,600 per week during the year, but can be paid more by their teams.
However, they can be released at any time and sign with any team.
West joins Freedom alum, Mike Coccia, and Becahi’s Tevrin Brandon as a trio of players that competed throughout NFL training camp.
Coccia was cut after the Eagles third preseason game against Green Bay, while Brandon was released by the Denver Broncos when teams needed to trim rosters to 75 players.
