Becahi starts off 5-0

Bethlehem Catholic High School’s tennis team has begun the 2015 season with a 5-0 record as of Press deadlines, recently defeating Nazareth 6-1 and Pocono Mountain West 7-0.

Brooke Adams, Becahi’s number three singles player, had a comeback win in her match against the Blue Eagles after falling behind 1-6, 1-5.

Adams won easily last week against Pocono Mountain West’s Grace Fruaff 6-0, 6-0.

“Over the summer, I tried to work on my net play and my serve,” said Adams. “It’s challenging at times.”

Molly Ehrig, Becahi’s number two singles player, won a close three-set match against Nazareth, and then defeated Pocono Mountain West’s Maeve Corrigan 6-0, 6-0.

“In general, my shots have become more penetrating, and I’ve been working on my serve,” Ehrig said.

Brenna Magliochetti, a freshman at Becahi, won 6-0, 6-0 at number one singles over Pocono Mountain West’s Jolanta Dzinira.

“I tried to become a lot more patient and consistent and worked on my serve [over the summer],” said Magliochetti.

In doubles play, Liah Perez and Julie Glemser defeated Jamyse Bell and Cheetal Kalaprath 8-0 at number one, Tess Shuler and Maureen Mazza defeated Camile Teajman and Brianna Pugh 6-1, 6-0 at number two, Gabby Duffy and Tori Evert defeated Ajee Collins and Victoria Jones 6-0, 6-0 at number three, and Allie Palmisano and Bailee Deshler defeated Saviah Williams and Natalie Castillo 6-0, 6-1 at number four.

The Hawks’ victory over Pocono Mountain West was Becahi’s 400th win in school history.
