Former Southern Lehigh High School cheerleading coach Colleen Iannetta has returned to her alma mater, Bethlehem Catholic High School, as its new head varsity cheerleading coach. Iannetta will be assisted by Carly Ringenary.
“The program was already strong,” said Iannetta. “I started with open workshops so I could get to know the girls.”
The Becahi cheerleading roster consists of five seniors, Maria Talpes, Kassi Yocco, Hannah Orth, Francesca Laudone, and Maria Germanetti, six juniors, three sophomores, and two freshmen.
“We’re practicing for football now, and we’re working on components of our routine for competition season,” Iannetta said.
The Hawks recently returned from Pine Forest Cheerleading Camp where they won four trophies, including first place overall. In addition, six varsity cheerleaders were honored as All-Americans.
“I certainly had high expectations for them to do well,” said Iannetta.
Iannetta’s expectations for the upcoming sports season is for the squad to look great on the sideline and cheer the boys on. Regarding competition season, Iannetta’s expectations include a bid to nationals.
“I am trying to stay consistent to [Becahi cheerleading’s] traditions. Any changes down the road will be collaborative,” she said.
