LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

A great day In the park

Dimmick Park was home to the 14th annual Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day Aug. 22. Community Day is planned each year to act as a bridge among the businesses, organizations and residents, encouraging cultural connectivity and social interaction. Presented by the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Chamber of Commerce, the event featured over 60 vendors from all areas of the community, showcasing various products and services, ranging from food and community clubs to assistance with funeral needs. Beginning at 10 a.m. with the Girl Scouts of Saucon Valley’s Presentation of Colors and a beautiful rendition of the National Anthem, sung by Saucon Valley Music’s Giuliana Augello, the gorgeous weather made for a day filled with fun and activities for residents of all ages. A crowd favorite was an informative presentation by Officer Steve Kunigus of the Lower Saucon Police Department and his K-9 companion, Atos. Kunigus discussed and gave hands-on examples of how his 3-year-old pup helps the department sniff out criminal activity. Additional demonstrations by the Saucon Valley Karate Academy and the Saucon Valley Band, coupled with an impressive classic car show, were just a few of the many activities planned throughout the day. Organizers on the Hellertown-Lower Saucon Community Day Facebook page deemed the day a great success and thanked all the sponsors who made it possible.
