BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Early retirement may be extended to Salisbury Township administration employees.
The proposal was discussed at the Aug. 13 township board of commissioners’ workshop.
Two township employees, who were not named, would be eligible, according to Salisbury Township Finance Director and Acting Township Manager Cathy Bonaskiewich.
There would be a five- to six-month window to apply, possibly Sept. 1 through Jan. 30, 2016, or Oct. 1 through March 31, 2016. The employee would need to be a minimum of 60-years-old with a minimum of 20 years of township employment.
Bonaskiewich said she discussed the proposal with Salisbury Township Managing Director Randy Soriano, who is on medical leave.
“It would be nice to offer this to administrative employees,” Bonaskiewich said.
Commissioners agreed to put the proposal on the Aug. 27 commissioners’ meeting agenda for consideration of a vote.
In other business at the Aug. 13 meeting, commissioners voted 4-0, with one commissioner absent, to:
Proclaim September “Pain Awareness Month,” at the request of township resident Julian Phillips, who was given permission to place information signs on township property;
Pay $157,208.94, payment No. 3, to Miller ship, which provided four goats for successful detention pond weeds mitigation; and yabled the township planning commission’s zoning ordinance amendment regarding beekeeping.
Commissioners convened a Shade Tree Hearing Appeal for 1024 Wellington Terrace. The homeowner was not present. Commissioners voted 4-0 to reject the appeal.
Commissioners discussed an Eagle Scout Project Proposal by Ka Seng Lim for Franko Farm Park. Salisbury Township Police Chief Allen W. Stiles said a gazebo along the park trail as part of the project may be beyond repair and isn’t in a desirable location. A split-rail fence repair, also part of the project, could be done, Salisbury Township Director of Public Works John Andreas said. Township officials will inspect the trail gazebo, as well as a gazebo, also in need of repair at the park pond.
