Council chooses new tech provider
Fountain Hill Borough looks to upgrade its computer system and Stratix; an IT infrastructure provides the service.
“Our system is really outdated,” Council President Larry Rapp said at a recent meeting. Delaying an upgrade for their server at this point was no longer a viable option. After Sean Culver, the presenter for Stratix Systems offered a report on the risks of their current situation and his recommendations, council had to make a decision as to who should do the job.
However, with no budget in line for technological expenses, council member Carolee Gifford expressed her concern about the price. “I think we need to look around,” to find a more affordable IT group than Stratix.”
Rapp, however, was eager to get the process rolling. Seeing that Stratix had already partnered with them in these past months and became fully aware of the borough’s needs, he did not see the sense in expanding their search.
Gifford was relentless. She stressed again and again that it would not hurt to check other options. With Rapp’s strong disagreement, an argument ensued and the president pulled council into an executive discussion. Having been in the midst of his presentation, Sean Culver was surprised as they rose from their seats.
Council’s adjournment did not take long and by the time members resettled themselves, they passed a motion unanimously to hire Stratix Systems.
In other news, earlier that evening, Ron Koach presented a donation to the borough. On behalf of Frank Lorenzo, owner of Lorenzo’s, to show his appreciation for the borough’s help as he ran the snack stand at the Fountain Hill pool, he donated a large sum of money to the parks and recreational funding. The snack stand was a delicious success and council was extremely grateful for the gift.
