Alton D. Romig

Alton D. Romig, 87, of Kirkland Village, died Aug. 8, 2015, at the VNA of St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. He was the husband of the late Christine (Groh) Romig.

Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Alton D. and Alma N. (Reed) Romig.

He graduated from Allentown High School. He attended Lehigh University and studied mechanical engineering.

He was in the U.S. Army in the 66th Infantry Division, 259th Combat Engineers in Germany at the end of World War II. He was a member of Occupation Forces.

He was a plant engineer at Bethlehem Steel. He worked for US Gauge, Sellersville; Autosonics, Norristown; and for Allied Signal, Morristown, .NJ. from which he retired after 10 years of employment.

He was a former member of Dubbs Memorial UCC, Allentown; and St. John's UCC, Fullerton.

He was a bass horn player and a member of the Allentown Band for 20 years.

He is survived by a son, Alton D. Jr. and his wife Julie of Alexandria, Va.; a brother, Thomas of Albuquerque, N.M.; a sister, Darlene Butterweck of Allentown; a grandson, Christopher and his wife Sara; and a great-granddaughter, Alexandra of Castle Rock, Colo.
