Laptops are here!

Salisbury Middle School students are able to pick up their school issue laptops between noon and 3 p.m. Aug. 19 and 20 at SMS. Salisbury High School students picked up their laptops Aug. 17 and 18. The first day of school is right around the corner and I am not ready.

My boys want nothing to do with shopping for clothes or supplies because they are still in denial school is less than two weeks away. Things are getting very hectic around here.

Aug. 31 is orientation day for students in kindergarten, first, sixth and ninth grades. This is such a great way for students who are new to a building to find their way around without all the other students crowding the halls. All students report to their first day of school Sept. 1. If you haven't received your bus card from the school district yet, it should be there any day now.

The Salisbury Athletic Booster Club is having a clothing sale. If you want to show your school spirit, go to the school district website at www.stsd.org under News to find out how to order your Falcon gear. Don't wait. The order deadline is Sept. 15.

A curriculum and technology meeting will be held 7:30 p.m. Aug. 31 at the administration building.

Jerusalem Western Salisbury Church will host its third annual community picnic 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug 23. Morning worship will be held outside in the church grove, so bring lawn chairs and sunglasses. Immediately following the service, everyone will gather at the Triangle. The church will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks. The congregation will bring salads and desserts. Feel free to stop by and get to know the JWSC family. Bring games, cards or just yourself.

The Devonshire yard waste drop-off site will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 29 and Sept. 1 .

Looking ahead, the South Mall Community Day will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 12. The Salisbury Township Police Department will attend to collect unused prescription drugs, nonprofit vendors will be available and there will be an all-ages book swap and a canned food drive.
