Provident Bank donates to local Boys & Girls Club

The Provident Bank Foundation, which supports organizations that are dedicated to improving the lives of residents in the communities served by Provident Bank, has provided the Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem with a $2,500 community grant to support the Club's Project Learn after-school program for youth of all ages.

Project Learn helps drive and enhance academic success for youth. Components of this program include: daily homework help for club members, individual or small-group tutoring to help youth gain proficiency in needed subject areas, regular implementation of high-yield learning activities (HYLAs), in which youth participate in fun, intentional activities designed to expose them to skills and information needed for school success, school-club-family partnerships to support youth academically and recognizing all members for their academic achievements.

"Our team was thrilled to visit the Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem and to be able to meet the children that Project Learn will impact," said Jane Kurek, executive director of The Provident Bank Foundation. "Gary Martell and his staff are admirably committed to empowering the youth of this area and The Provident Bank Foundation is honored to be a part of the story."

The Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem's mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. The Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem provides diversified activities that meet the interests of all young people. Core programs encourage activities with adults, peers and family members that enable kids to enhance self-esteem and fulfill their potential. Based on the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs and interest of boys and girls and recognizing developmental principals, the Club offers diversified program activities in six areas: character and leadership, education and career, health and life skills, the arts, sports, fitness and recreation and specialized programs.

"The community grant from The Provident Bank Foundation will allow the Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem to continue our educational program 'Project Learn' at our clubs and increase the number of students we serve," said Gary Martell, CEO of the Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem.
