HOZZA
The Lehigh County Election Office, in a recent report, showed the Committee to Elect Ed Hozza Jr. spent $15,878 in the candidate's successful primary election campaign.
The committee had contributions tallying $10,350 along with $8,200 in loans from Hozza, raising the total income to $18,550.
During the fierce campaign against Commissioner Gerard Palagonia, Hozza withstood sharp attacks for raising the Syrian flag at a ceremony at the municipal building at which the POW-MIA flag was removed briefly and for cleaning the Emergency Operating Center that had asbestos.
Despite the setbacks, Hozza defeated Palagonia in the Democratic primary election.
Hozza, now going into the November general election unchallenged, defeated his opponent by more than a two-to-one spread. He also secured more write-in votes than Palagonia did on the Republican primary ballot.
The contributors to Hozza's campaign include Commissioner Philip Ginder, Lois Hower, Phyllis Bossard, William Pesarcik, Trudy Sipko, Boyd A. Kreglow, Ann Freeman, Coplay Mayor Joseph Bundra and Kathleen M. Hozza, all for $100; Michael Hoffman, Cheryl A. Sommer, Jean Gilbert and Robert Oster, all for $250; Craig F. Wood and Phyllis Brader, for $200; Steamfitters Local Union 420 Committee on Political Education Fund, Philadelphia, for $500; Martha Hozza, $2,500; Bernice Tepes, $1,000; Mary Elizabeth Jindl and Phillip S. Schwartz, $500; and Muller4Exec Committee, $4,100.
The expenditures of the campaign include WS Group, LLC, Harrisburg, for political mailers and postage, $4,212 and $2,486; Hozza's father, Edward D. Hozza Sr., Northampton, $186 for food to poll workers; and Hozza's wife, Denise, $303 for food and supplies to poll workers.
