A 67-year-old Coopersburg man died around 3:40 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Rodale Aquatic Center, 100 College Drive, Allentown.

William W. Binder, of 2711 Pike Ave., was pronounced dead 4:30 p.m. that same day in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Salisbury Township, Lehigh County Coroner Scott Grim says.

According to the coroner, Binder became unresponsive while swimming and was found at the bottom of the pool.

He was immediately removed, resuscitation efforts were initiated and Binder was transported to the hospital.

Grim said an autopsy was performed Aug. 7.

The cause of Binder's death is attributed to drowning. Grim ruled the manner of his death an accident.
