Karam opens recruiting again

Luke Karam plans to have a busy month of August on his hands.

The Bethlehem Catholic senior wrestler announced last week that he decommitted from Bucknell as his current choice for college, opening up the recruiting trail once again.

The two-time PIAA state champion shouldn't have any problems finding different suitors, but he still hasn't crossed Bucknell off his list.

"I really just want to see what's out there," Karam said. "I never visited another school or campus, other than Bucknell, so I'm just curious as to what else is available. It doesn't mean that I won't stick with Bucknell though."

Karam said he has thought about his decision for awhile after committing to Bucknell in October of 2014. He has a career record of 125-8 and finished his junior year 43-3, capping it off with a 126-pound PIAA 3A championship in Hershey last March.

After letting the Bucknell coaches know that he's open for a change, he now has until the end of August to make a decision.

"They [Bucknell] were obviously disappointed because they want me to wrestle there," Karam said. "They told me they need to know by the end of August whether I'm going to stay there or not. So, it's going to be a busy month."

Karam said he plans to have "many" visits over the next four weeks, but wouldn't comment on which schools are in play.
