State Rep. Julie Harhart, R-183rd, will offer monthly veterans outreach hours in her Slatington district office 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Aug. 6, in Slatington Borough Hall, 15 S. Walnut St.

During the special hours, a veterans outreach specialist from the American Legion, Wilkes-Barre, will be available to meet with local veterans and assist them with issues they may be having accessing benefits and services from the U.S. Veterans Administration.

"These special hours provide a perfect opportunity for area veterans to get any questions answered, learn more about the programs and services available to them or receive help with managing any government bureaucracy they may be encountering," Harhart said. "I encourage men and women who have served or are currently serving in the armed forces to reach out if they are in need of assistance."

The veterans outreach specialist is available the first Thursday of each month on alternating months at Harhart's Northampton or Slatington district offices.

September's visit will be Sept. 3 in Harhart's Northampton office.

Appointments are necessary.
