Resident reups with National Guard
Michael Rivera, from Bethlehem, has re-enlisted for continued service in Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 369th Sustainment Brigade, New York Army National Guard. The announcement was made by Adjutant General Major General Patrick A. Murphy.
Barakat chosen for GO program
Michelle Barakat, of Bethlehem, was one of 14 students who were part of the university's Global Opportunities (GO) program. The Class of '16 earth and environmental sciences major and 2012 graduate of Liberty High School is the daughter of Munzer and Josefina Barakat.
The Susquehanna University Focus Australia study-tour highlighted the country's history, culture and biogeography. The trip included stays in New South Wales, the Northern Territory and far northern Queensland, and offered opportunities to spend time in the rainforest, scuba dive on the Great Barrier Reef, visit Alice Springs, walk at the sacred aboriginal sites of Uluru and Kata Tjuta and tour the historic city of Sydney.
Wirth wins scholarship
Katherine Wirth, of Bethlehem, has been chosen as a recipient of the Commitment to Excellence Scholarship for the fall 2015 semester at Millersville University.
