Franklin T. Pfeifly
Franklin T. Pfeifly, 93, of Lenharts-ville, died July 26, 2015, in The Lutheran Home at Topton.
He was the widower of Arlene M. (Shollenberger) Pfeifly, who died Nov. 20, 1997.
Born in Topton, he was a son of the late Preston W. and Sarah E. (Reber) Pfeifly.
A former member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, Krumsville, he was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II.
He was a truck driver for East Penn Manufacturing Company Inc., Lyon Station, for 26 years, before retiring in 1986.
Prior to that, he was a truck driver for Chicago Express, New York, N.Y.
A member of the Antique Engine, Tractor and Toy Club, he also attended Grundsow Lodge 15, Kutztown, and participated in Tall Tale competitions at the Kempton Community Center.
An avid collector, he enjoyed collecting hit-and-miss engines, tractors and clocks.
His survivors include daughters Audrey M., wife of Neil P. Merkel, of Lenhartsville, Carol A., wife of Dennis J. Dorney of New Tripoli, Lucille M., wife of Daniel C. Walter of Douglassville; son Daniel W., husband of Shoanna (Kehm) Pfeifly, of Slatington; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and 15 great-great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Preston B. Oct. 12, 2013; and nine brothers and sisters.
His funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. July 31, in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich St., Kutztown, with the Rev. Raymond J. Hand officiating.
Interment, with military honors, will follow in New Bethel Zion Cemetery, Greenwich Township.
Relatives and friends may call 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday in the funeral home.
