David J. Hummel, 52, of Weiseberg Township, previously from Germansville, died July 10, 2015, from injuries he sustained while riding his motorcycle.

He and his wife Suzanne L. (Fryer) Hummel were married 33 years last Sept. 5.

Born Sept. 14, 1962, in Allentown, he was the son of Lloyd A. and Phyllis J. (Royer) Hummel of Laurys Station.

He was employed at Christman's Septic Service, Weisenberg Township, for the last 10 years and recently became co-owner.

Prior to that, he was a self-employed independent truck driver for 18 years.

An avid snowmobiler/ racer, he was a member of numerous clubs and racing organizations.

When he was not riding his snowmobile, his passion was riding his Harley with his beloved wife.

He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren as often as possible, especially at their cabin in Potter County.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by children Joshua L. Hummel and his wife, Emily, Jill M. Christman and her husband, Justin, Lucas J. Hummel and his fiancé, Kaitlyn N. Sostak, all of New Tripoli; siblings Eileen L. Makovsky of Schnecksville, Barbara J. Kintz of Walnutport, Lou Ann Sechler of Davenport, Fla., Donna L. Derrick of Bowmanstown, Jeffrey T. Hummel of Bath; grandchildren Adrianna, Kylie, Abigail, Alexis and Keegan; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Carol L. Hummel.

A joint memorial service for him and his wife will take place 10:30 a.m. July 16, in Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville, with the Rev. Dr. James T. Gottwald officiating.

Interment will be private.
