William Keeler Somers

William "Bill" Keeler Somers, 85, of Allentown died on July 1, 2015, in Phoebe Home, Allentown.

He and his wife Barbara (Funk) Somers celebrated 56 years of marriage last September.

Born in Warren County, N.J. and raised in Easton, he was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Keeler) Somers.

A 1948 graduate of Easton High School, he continued his education at Lafayette College and Carnegie Mellon University.

He was a dedicated employee of Air Products for 37 years before retiring in 1995.

A longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Allentown, he was a member of its chancel choir for more than 45 years.

He enjoyed golfing and swimming and was a faithful fan of the Philadelphia Eagles, Penn State Nittany Lions and his beloved Lafayette Leopards.

He also enjoyed playing bridge with his wife and their friends.

A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he treasured the time he spent with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Patricia S., wife of Michael Lisetski of Upper Macungie Township, Anne S., wife of Rich Ferrera, of Lower Macungie Township, Susan L., wife of Chris Mauser of Salisbury Township; sister Sally S. Heck of Easton; and grandchildren Nick, Stephen, Drew, Paul, Erik, Sage and Mark.

He was predeceased by siblings Trudy Hepp, Mary Kenney and Jim Somers.

His memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday in the sanctuary of the First Presbyterian Church, 3231 W. Tilghman St., Allentown.

Call 10-11 a.m. Friday in the church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the music program at the church.
