Richard G. Kramlich

Richard G. "Dick" Kramlich, 89, from Whitehall, died peacefully June 25, 2015, in his home surrounded by his loving and dedicated family.

He and his wife Ora D. "Dolly" Kramlich were married 65 years.

Born in Allentown, he was the only child of the late Richard F. and Elizabeth "Alice" (Giehl) Kramlich.

A longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hokendauqua, he was a mainstay at the church, having previously served as deacon, trustee, elder, Sunday School superintendent, treasurer and member of the choir for more than 60 years.

He enjoyed being a Cub Scout Master earlier in life.

A very proud veteran, he served in both WWII and the Korean Conflict with the U.S. Navy, attaining the rank of petty officer 2C.

He was a navigator, bombardier and tail gunner on a P-2V Neptune.

He was again activated with VP-931 conducting ASW operations in support of nuclear testing at Eniwetok Islands in 1951.

A 1943 graduate of Allentown High School, he attended Lehigh University, and became a design engineer, holding multiple patents, for Fuller Company/F.L. Smidth from 1954 until 1989, and consulted for the company until 1996.

He was a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers.

An avid bowler, part time golfer and football fan, he most enjoyed using his many talents as a skilled woodworker and engineer to craft treasured heirlooms for his family and friends, and special functions at church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters Joanne Matthews and Alice Wall, and her husband, Jack, all of Walnutport; sons Richard Scott and his wife Gail (Parker) of Allentown, Michael of Whitehall, and Daniel Kramlich and his wife Ann Hoefer of Houston, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his son-in-law William "Jeff" Matthews in 2011.
