Grover H. Stainbrook Jr., Boy Scouts; executive

Grover H. Stainbrook Jr., 78, of Bethlehem Township, June 18, in Arden Courts, Allentown. He was a son of the late Grover H. and Ruth (Bailey) Stainbrook.

He was the husband of Janet L. (Renn) Stainbrook for 24 years.

He worked for the Boy Scouts of America Councils in Rome and Oneida, N.Y., Erie, and Bethlehem. He was district scout executive for the South Mountain District of the Minsi Trail Council. He was a summer camp director of the Pocono Camp Minsi. He led a trip to the Philmont, N.M. Scout Ranch.

He was an administrative assistant, and then an executive vice president, of the Lehigh Valley Industrial Park Inc.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem.

He was a president of the statewide economic development association (PEDA) and was a six-year state board of directors member. He was on the executive board of the Northampton County Development Corporation and the advisory board of Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

He was a member of the Bethlehem Rotary Club and was a board member of United Cerebral Palsy and the Bethlehem Club. He was on the March of Dimes Real Estate Award committee since its inception in 1993 and was the 1997 event chair.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jess and his wife Keena of Castle Rock, Colo.; two daughters, Sharon and her husband James Collins of Nashville, Tenn., and Stacy and her husband Eric Shillinger of Macungie; five grandchildren, Ellie, Jenna, Maya, Verona and Jade; and three brothers, Dr. Robert and his wife Marlene Stainbrook of Meadville, Tom and his wife Joyce Stainbrook of Nashville, Tenn, and John Stainbrook of Nags Head, N.C.

He was predeceased by a brother, James Stainbrook; and his first wife, Virginia Stainbrook.

A memorial service will be held at a future date in the First Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem.

Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, the March of Dimes, and the Boy Scouts of America.
