Four road projects part of MOVE LV

The Lehigh Valley Planning Commission and Lehigh Valley Transportation Study have alerted Whitehall Township that four proposed road projects have been included in MOVE LV, a long-range transportation plan for the Lehigh Valley.

The township submitted six requests for inclusion in the plan. Two did not qualify but are eligible for grant opportunities.

George Kinney, of the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission, in a letter to Mayor Edward D. Hozza Jr., said there is now a 30-day public review and comment period.

The MOVE LV plan identifies specific projects and project line items necessary for improving and enhancing the regional travel network. It serves as a conduit for projects to enter the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP).

Representatives from municipalities presented proposals. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation also evaluated the plans.

The four township proposed projects included in the draft plan are:

·MacArthur Road and Grape Street bump-out

·Water Street and Coplay Creek bridge project

·Eberhart and MacArthur roads jughandle

· Third and Grape streets widening

Riverside Drive, identified as a TIGER grant project, and the Riverview trail project were not included in the draft plan but qualify for a competitive grant opportunity.
