Donald R. Miller
Donald R. Miller, 89, of Allentown, died on June 23, 2015, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
He and his wife Dorothy (Stelzel) Miller, were married for 66 years.
Born in Allentown, he was the son of Hans and Louise (Boyle) Miller.
A 1943 graduate of Allentown High School, he served in the Marine Corps, with two years in the Pacific.
He has a DVD of service in the Library of Congress.
A 1950 graduate of the University of Miami Class, he attended Washington and Lee Law School and worked for Firestone Tire and General Motors in Akron, Ohio.
He returned to Allentown and worked for Mack Trucks for 27 years, retiring as director of government affairs.
Active in the community, he served on many boards, including president and campaign chairman of the United Way, president of the Muhlenberg College Board of Association and more than 20 years with the Lehigh Valley Airport Authority.
He was the founding president of the Burn Foundation, former Lehigh County commissioner and chairman, member of the Marine Corps League, Jordan Martin Lodge F.&A.M., Scottish Rite and Rajah Shrine.
A member of Nativity Lutheran Church, Allentown, he was a member of church council.
He enjoyed playing golf (poorly) and traveling.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter Catherine, wife of Kevin Smith, of New Ringgold; sons Jeffrey and his wife Robin Miller of North Easton, Mass., Donald and his wife, Deborah Miller, of Santa Barbara, Calif., and John Miller of Harleys-ville; grandchildren Mckenzie, Ethan, Mich-aila, Nicholas, Kevin II, Kenrick, Kyle and Caitlyn; great-grandchildren Ava, Maggie, Brycen, Willow, Morena, Evan, Ellianna, Eve Lynn, Cameron and Payton.
He was predeceased by his son David Hans.
