Daniel C. Heckman, 87, of Orefield, died peacefully June 27, 2015, at home.
Born June 6, 1928, in Allentown, he and his wife Mildred V. (Reinhart) Heckman shared 62 years of marriage.
He was the son of the late Charles F. and Theodora L. (Dalton) Heckman.
He served in the U.S. Armed Forces during World War II, receiving the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal, Japan.
After his military service, he worked in radio and television repair and for the former Western Electric for most of his working life before retiring in 1989.
An excellent craftsman, he had a woodworking shop where he made beautiful furniture.
He loved nature, especially fishing, and his numerous dogs and cats over the years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter Cathy A., wife of Paul Ashline, Nancy M., wife of Lee Goldstein, Linda L., wife of Craig Heckman; grandchildren Lauren and Jaclyn Ashline, Brian Hacker, Alison Weaver, Jamie and Mitchell Goldstein, Ryan and Erin Heckman; sister Mary Ann Sparks, wife of Ramon Sparks, of Lake Wales, Fla.; and two nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan D., wife of William Hacker.
His service will be private.
