LEHIGH VALLEY WEATHER

Wrestling tourneys add new teams

Christmas may be six months away but Bethlehem's holiday wrestling tournaments will have some new participants when the annual tournaments at Liberty and Bethlehem Catholic get underway.

Liberty's Bethlehem Holiday Wrestling Classic will be without four-time champion Wyoming Seminary, as the prep school will change gears and participate in the Powerade Tournament.

Over at Bethlehem Catholic, the Tony Iasiello Tournament will add more quality this year, as it will bring three more teams.

New Jersey's Cranford and Holy Cross, along with Athens from Pennsylvania's District 4 will join the tournament to improve the overall balance and depth in the tournament.

Athens junior, Brian Courtney, was a PIAA Class 2A runner-up last year at 120 pounds with his only loss coming in the PIAA finals to provide the possibility of an intriguing finals matchup against a Golden Hawk.
