Liberty High School's softball team was awarded the 2015 Lehigh Valley Chapter PIAA Softball Officials Sportsmanship banner earlier this month at Pates Park in Allentown.
Liberty softball coach Sam Carrodo, assistant coach, Lauren Frederick, and players, Tori Kaleycik, Allison Kundrik, and Precious Torres, accepted the award for the Hurricanes.
"It's a huge honor. It's pretty neat," said Carrodo, who just completed his first year as Liberty's head coach.
Criteria for the award included winning with grace, losing with dignity, showing respect toward other teams and the officials, and hustle on and off the field.
The banner was presented to the Hurricanes between two games of the District XI All-Stars softball doubleheader.
