Parkland School District, Asbury Methodist Church host annual resource fair for community members

Asbury Methodist Church, South Whitehall, in partnership with the Parkland School District, had its third annual Parkland Community Re-source Fair May 2 at the church.

Service providers from across the Lehigh Valley, including those representing aging, health care, employment, housing, disabilities, mental health, children, emergency management, transportation, education, legislators, churches and veterans, manned 90 tables filled with information, resources and volunteer opportunities for individuals of all ages.

Emergency providers from South Whitehall and Upper Macungie police departments, along with Cetronia Ambulance Corps, and Woodlawn and Greenawalds fire companies were on hand for demonstrations and questions.

Lehigh County Emergency Services was also present encouraging residents to go to ema.lehighcounty.org and register for Ready Notify Lehigh, an emergency community notification system.

According to Scott Lindenmuth, director of Emergency Services for the county, many people procrastinate making emergency plans.

"Preparedness in an emergency starts with you, the individual," Lindenmuth said.

There was something for everyone, both fun and serious at the Parkland Community Resource Fair.
