Fountain Hill: Fall festival planning continues

"It's all about the children," said Alfonso Todd III in regards to the fall music festival and his company's desire to incorporate local schools. A family oriented music day event for the community was a hot topic at Fountain Hill Borough Council's June 1 meeting, and Todd means to provide one. Sponsors cover the cost of performances and all other expenses so the community can experience a free event with family and friends.

With nothing but the promise of fun and profit, the council decided to move forward with this endeavor, but not before honing in on all the details.

Later, council member Carolee Gifford expressed her concern for the local walking trail. She said the constant littering, "Detracts from our quality of life!"

The rest of council shared her concern, with Fred Capuano saying, "It's a sad, sad thing… the borough was always a clean place." He also pointed out that parents may not have stressed the importance of a clean environment. "Education is the solution!"

Mayor Jose Rosado added that, "It's multi-faceted," as the trail needs trashcans, education and police enforcement to maintain cleanliness. Even after suggesting people in community service to right this wrong the frustration remained with the mayor saying, "I'm tired of having this conversation over and over and the borough still isn't any cleaner."

No motion has yet been passed on the matter.
