Sacred Heart Hospital's Behavioral Health Unit presents an art exhibit, "Authentic Moments," on view 9 a.m. - 8 p.m. through June 27, Assembly Room, 2nd Floor Conference Center, Sacred Heart Hospital, 421 Chew St., Allentown.

The collection of artwork, created by individuals who have participated in Sacred Heart's art therapy program, is to honor the courage it requires to be vulnerable enough to allow their expressed pain, fear, joy, struggles and hope to be visible and felt.

The artists, in various stages of recovery, allowed the creative process to be the vehicle of expression without fear of judgment or consequence.

Art therapy is just one of the services provided by Sacred Heart Hospital's Behavioral Health team. It provides a forum in a safe setting where individuals are invited to use various art materials as authentically as possible to express themselves, address stressors, and explore feelings and defenses in order to engage techniques to promote grounding, focus, insight and empowerment.

The exhibit is free and open to the public.

EMT program

for certification

Lehigh Carbon Community College (LCCC) is offering an accelerated Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program for students to obtain their Department of Health certification.

Class will be held Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. July 1 - 31 in the George E. Moerkirk Emergency Medicine Institute (EMI) of Lehigh Valley Health Network, 2166 S. 12th St., Allentown.

Students learn about didactic presentation, skill demonstration and hands-on practical skills, HazMat Awareness requirements, and CPR instruction and testing for the practical portion of CPR. Pre-requirements include successful completion of National Incident Management System online training NIMS 100 and 700. A physician release form and proof of health insurance is also required. Cost is $800; text is additional.
