Harry S Truman Elementary School

Harry S Truman Elementary is moving forward with the Leader in Me program and students were proud to show off what they have learned this year with habit #7: Sharpen the Saw in a recent event of exhibits and demonstrations.

Students learned ways to take care of themselves through exercise, healthy eating habits and getting enough sleep.

Students were also taught the value of spending time with friends and family as well as learning in multiple ways and finding meaningful ways to help each other.

All of these principles were modeled at the Harry S Truman Elementary School technology day recently.

Each grade demonstrated how students incorporate these principles. Parents and friends were invited into the school to travel through the grades and see what the children had to present.

Kindergarten students presented their Sharpen the Saw centers while first grade students showed how healthy foods help to sharpen the saw.

Second grade students demonstrated how exercise helps to Sharpen the Saw and students in third grade presented their ideas on how to Sharpen the Saw with their families.

Students in grade four presented ways to mentally Sharpen the Saw and fifth grade students presented ways they can Sharpen the Saw as individuals.
