Freedom's three-sport star athlete Jake Young will continue his multi-sport theme in college as well.
The Colombia University wrestling recruit will add football to his list of endeavors this fall, as Young made the football end of things official last week.
Young had literally wrestled with the idea of juggling both sports in college and outside of Columbia's outstanding academics, they also were one of the only schools on his list that would have allowed him to participate in both sports at the collegiate level.
"It's something that I've thought about doing and is one of the benefits of choosing Colombia," said Young during a Freedom press conference for college-bound athletes this spring. "It was a tough choice picking which sport I wanted to play in college and who knows, I may still end up playing football too."
That now is a reality for Young, who starred on the football field for the Patriots last fall, racking up 58 tackles, and two interceptions for touchdowns as a defensive back. He also caught 44 balls for 585 yards and five touchdowns as a wide receiver.
Young appears to be heading to the offensive side of the field for Columbia as a slot receiver.
