Dave Weitzman will have more time to focus on Whitehall's girls' soccer team this season after resigning as head coach of FC LVU SONIC this month.

Weitzman had become a staple with National Premier Soccer League club, which grew every year under his six-years at the helm. The club went 60-6-15 during his tenure and appeared in four NPSL final four championships, winning their last national title in 2012. The club also won in 2008 under former head coach Todd Ervin when they were called the PA Stoners.

Lehigh Valley United executive director Greg Ramos has taken over the club heading into this summer, as the team moved up to play in the Premier Development League (PDL), which is the highest amateur league in the country.

"I know that the team is in good hands with coach Ramos who has been undoubtedly a proven winner," said Weitzman. "My hope is that the current players continue to step on the pitch and show the Lehigh Valley soccer enthusiasts and a national soccer audience that the Lehigh Valley can and will compete in the PDL."

With 64 teams and four conferences across the country in the PDL, competition will increase, as well as the player pool of talent for FC LVU SONIC. As the top U-23 men's league in the country, the league is viewed as a major stepping stone for college level players looking to become professionals in the future, as 70-percent of all players in Major League Soccer have PDL experience in their backgrounds.

"I wish all of the current players the best of luck," Weitzman said. "Thank you to all the former PA Stoners and SONIC players for your commitment and effort through the years. I'm extremely grateful for all that you given to me and to the SONIC organization and it's supporters. You were an integral piece of generating interest in the game throughout the Valley as well as inspiring so many youth players to follow in your footsteps.

"Finally, I would like send very special thank you to Matt McTish and Mark Masenheimer. Both you, your families and your business families were the most dedicated, thoughtful and kind people I have ever had the pleasure of working with."
