Three faculty members were approved by the Whitehall-Coplay School Board at the Monday meeting.

Those appointed include Melissa Plesh, Laura Karns and Adam Konsavage.

Plesh was appointed as a reading specialist at Steckel Elementary for grades 2 and 3.

According to building Principal Glenn Noack, she received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of North Carolina, then earned a master's degree in curriculum and instruction. She received her reading specialist certification from Kutztown University.

Karns was appointed as emotional support for grades 2 and 3 at Steckel.

Thomas Solski, supervisor of special programs, said Karns earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from West Chester University, then later earned her master's degree in special education from St. Joseph's University. Solski said her references spoke highly of her and she will be an asset to the district.

Konsavage was appointed as a math teacher at the high school for grades 9 through 12.

Building Principal Christopher Schiffert said Konsavage earned his bachelor's degree in science and education from Millersville University.

He described Konsavage as sincere and someone who collaborates with others, always going the extra mile.

In other business, Doreen Huber spoke during the public section of the meeting. She thanked the board for the use of the district's stadium for the Relay For Life.

Huber invited all the members to attend the event, which is slated for June 19-20.
