Russel Lee Daniels
Russel Lee Daniels, 79, of Fleetwood, died June 7, 2015, in Sinking Spring, where he last resided.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, of nearly 55 years, Paula Daniels, in 2014.
Born in Steinsville, Lynn Township, he was a son of the late Edward and Ruth (Miller) Daniels.
He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Fleetwood.
A 1953 graduate of the former Slatington High School, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War with the 512th Fighter Interceptor Squadron in England, Libya, Turkey, Greece, Syria, France and Germany.
He served four years active duty and four years standby duty.
After returning stateside, he began working in heating and air conditioning with several firms, last working for Brown's Heating and Air Conditioning, until retiring in 2000.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he was always willing to lend a hand, offer a piece of advice and share a story about growing up on the farm, learning in the one-room schoolhouse or his adventures around the world in the U.S. Air Force.
He loved spending time with his family and friends, camping in the Poconos, and enjoying a big bowl of ice cream or any dessert.
His survivors include daughters Karen, wife of Mark Wilson of Laureldale, Alice Shomgard, and Susan, wife of Dwight Bigg, all of Blandon and Ellen, wife of John Seidt of Sinking Spring , with whom he last resided; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Frank E., husband of Carolyn F. Daniels of Elizabethtown.
His humbleness, unparalled humor, grand stories and wisdom will be missed by all who were blessed to know him. He will forever live in their hearts.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. June 12 in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 5 W. Arch St., Fleetwood, with the calling hour beginning 10 a.m.
Pastor John W. Folk will officiate.
Interment with military honors will take place in Jacob's Union Cemetery, New Tripoli.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the church memorial fund, 5 W. Arch St., Fleetwood, PA 19522 and/or to Berks Encore, 40 N. 9th St., Reading, PA 19601.
