Rachel A. Diehl
Rachel A. Diehl, 95, formerly of Neffs, died May 27, 2015, in Cedarbrook Nursing Home, South Whitehall.
She was the wife of the late Wilbur O. Diehl.
Born Jan. 17, 1920, in Casey's Crossing, Washington Township, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin L. Kern and Mabel E. (Walter) Schmale Kern.
She was a sewing machine operator and presser for the former Bru-Mar Fashions, Allentown, before retiring.
Prior to that, she worked for the former Lerner Department Store, Northampton, Ambro Fashions and Kern and Moser Country Store, both in Neffs.
A lifelong member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs, she formerly sang with the choir for 45 years, was a member of Helping Hands and served as Sunday School pianist for many years.
She was a member of the former Washington Grange and Schnecksville Grange 1684, and was an active member and pianist at the former Neffs Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and at Cedarbrook birthday socials.
She played the guitar and impersonated Minnie Pearl since1933.
Her survivors include a daughter, Gloria E., wife of John F. Simock of Neffs; son Leonard B. and his wife, Jayne, of Washington Township; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her twin sister, Ruth A. Mack, and half-sister, Dorothy Schmale.
