inducted into honor society

Katlyn Roginsky, of Bath, was named a member of the Beta Kappa Chi Honor Society in spring 2015.

Roginsky is studying biochemistry at Alvernia University and is a graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School.

Beta Kappa Chi, Natural Sciences & Mathematics, has the purpose of encouraging the advancement of scientific education through original investigations, the dissemination of scientific knowledge and the stimulation of high scholarship in the pure and applied sciences.

Roginsky

defends thesis

Alvernia University senior Katlyn Roginsky, of Bath, will be defending her honors thesis titled "Alcohol Consumption by D. melanogaster as a Model for Studying Alcoholism in Humans" this spring.

Roginsky is studying biochemistry.

The honors program at Alvernia challenges highly motivated students to pursue academic excellence and to actively exchange ideas and information with other students who have different interests or study different disciplines.

Each honors student must complete an informed, well-reasoned and creative thesis under the supervision of a faculty member.

The thesis defense is the last step in a process that begins with the exploration of an issue or topic in the student's discipline and includes extensive research and effective communication, both written and oral.

Area students graduate

Loujin Daher and Tejvinder Singh of Whitehall and Victoria Molchany of Coplay graduated from Bucknell University May 17.

Daher received a B.S. in civil engineering, Singh received a B.S. in mechanical engineering and Molchany received a B.S. in mechanical engineering.

Lebanon Valley College

Students named to dean's list

Michael Chajnacki of Northampton and Braxton Kocher of Bath have been named to the Lebanon Valley College dean's list for the spring semester.

Dean's list students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.4 out of 4.0

Elizabethtown College

Area residents graduate

Richard Meyers of Bath graduated May 16 from Elizabethtown College magna cum laude with a B.S. in business administration - management.

Tamara Eichelberger, Ellyn Frisch and Erin Kelly of Whitehall also received degrees.

Eichelberger graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in sociology - anthropology; Frisch received a B.A. in fine arts; and Kelly graduated with a B.S. in health and occupation.

University of the Sciences

Huynh graduates

Kimmarie Huynh of Whitehall received a B.S. in pharmaceutical and health care studies cum laude from University of the Sciences May 15.

Students in the doctor of occupational therapy, doctor of physical therapy and doctor of pharmacy programs were eligible to earn a bachelor's degree as they continue their matriculation toward their professional degrees.

Huynh now continues on a path towards a doctor of pharmacy degree.

Troy University

Irving-Moyer named to provost's list

Brooke Irving-Moyer of Whitehall has been named to the provost's list at Troy University for the spring semester term 4.

The provost's list honors full-time undergraduate students registered for 12 semester hours who have a GPA of 3.65 or higher.

Coastal Carolina University

Hanzl graduates

Kaitlyn Hanzl of Whitehall, PA graduated with a B.A. in philosophy from Coastal Carolina University May 9.

Millersville University

Residents named to dean's list

Aaron Keglovits of Whitehall and Bryan Diem and Joseph Asbury of Coplay have been named to the Millersville University dean's list for the spring semester.

In order to attain dean's list status, a student must maintain a semester GPA of 3.50 or higher and attempt at least 12 credits of course work.

King's College

Jacob Rockovits of Catasauqua, Danielle Tristani or Northampton and Kaitlyn Globosits of Whitehall have been named to the dean's list at King's College for the spring semester.

Area residents graduate

Katlyn Roginsky of Bath and Edward Cadman of Whitehall graduated May 16 from Alvernia University.

Roginsky received a B.S. summa cum laude in biochemistry and Cadman received a B.S. magna cum laude in accounting.

Stephanie Chlebove of Northampton graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in elementary education from Susquehanna University May 10.

Chlebove is a 2011 graduate of Northampton Area High School and the daughter of Andrew and Karen Chlebove.

Jacqueline O'Connell of Northampton graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in biology from Washington College May 16. She also received departmental honors in biology SCE honors.
