noack shines in China games
HEFEI, China- Collin Stewart (Glenville, N.Y./Mekeel Christian Academy) knocked in six-three pointers and scored a game-high 22 points as the Monmouth men's basketball team beat the Anhui Wenyi Basketball Club, 106-95 at Hefei Arena in China last Thursday, May 28.
The Hawks concluded the basketball portion of the trip with three straight victories to close it out. Monmouth went on an 8-0 run to go up 34-20 late in the first quarter, sparked by Greg Noack (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) powering from the baseline for a dunk. Chris Brady (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) posted his first points of the game after Noack forced a turnover at half court, and Noack put in an eight-footer on the next possession. Austin Tilghman (Wilmington, Del./Archbishop Carroll [Pa.]) capped the run with a driving layup.
Noack finished with six points on 3-for-4 shooting.

Six Hawks scored in double-figures and the team poured in 111 points in a win over the Anhui Wenfi Basketball Club on last Wednesday afternoon at Hefei Arena, 111-101. Rising junior center Chris Brady (Greenlawn, N.Y./Harborfields) led the way with 24 points on 12-13 shooting, while rising junior guard Justin Robinson (Lake Katrine, N.Y./Kingston) netted 21 points for the Blue and White, who move to 2-1 on the trip to China.
Monmouth jumped out 9-3 on a Greg Noack (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) offensive rebound and put back and Brady's first bucket, a nice inside move to put the Hawks up six. The lead opened up to 14-6 at the 6:52 mark of the first when Noack flushed one, the first of 10 Monmouth dunks on the day, and Max DiLeo (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) drilled a straightaway triple.
Later, in a 10-0 MU run, Noack hammered home a lob from Robinson and Brady shuffled inside to make it 71-64 Hawks.
Down the stretch in the third, Tillman and Brady both put home dunks to make it 81-76. Anhui Wenyi closed the quarter with four in a row, and Monmouth took an 83-82 lead into the fourth. Noack finished a thunderous dunk over a defender, and Robinson and Jones went back-to-back to put Monmouth up six with 9:45 left. Jones later followed a miss with a tip-slam to make it 91-87 with around eight minutes left in the game.
Noack added 11 points in the very physical game.
