Whitehall Township recently was ranked on the 100 Safest Cities list in America in 2015 by the website safewise.com.

Out of 100 cities, Whitehall was ranked 19th by the website.

Based on data collected by the website, Whitehall had 0.79 violent crimes per 1,000 and 3.59 property crimes per 1,000.

"Right next door to Allentown, Whitehall originated as a hunting reserve," the website says. "Safety in this leafy suburb begins with a considerable body of community-based programs like Premise Alert and neighborhood watch-like programs that provide services such as self-defense courses."

According to data collected, the total population of Whitehall is 13,936.
