Ralph W. Younger
Ralph W. "Bill" Younger, 81, of Catasauqua, died peacefully May 19, 2015, surrounded by loved ones at home.
He and his wife Jacqueline R. (Gogle) Younger were married 58 years,
Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Ralph D. and Ella (Bentelspacher) Younger.
A 1951 graduate of Catasauqua High School, he was treasurer of his class and active with the reunion committee.
He attained the rank of Sgt. in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and returned home to become a member of Catasauqua American Legion Post 215.
A devoted member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Catasauqua, he previously served on church council, the finance committee, altar guild and was a member of the music and worship committee for more than 50 years.
A member of Porter Lodge 284 F&AM, North Catasauqua, he received his 50-year meritorious service recognition in April.
He was a 32nd degree Mason with Lehigh Consistory, Valley of Allentown, a member of Royal Arch Chapter 278, the High 12 Club, Allentown, and the former Lehigh Valley Club.
A PP&L supervisor in engineering services for more than 42 years, before retiring in 1995, he enjoyed being a member of the Kilowatt Club and golf league.
A dedicated and devoted volunteer, he provided more than 14,000 hours of service to Miller-Keystone Blood Center and also volunteered at many special functions.
He especially enjoyed his time at the Betsy King Classic Golf Tournament at Berkleigh Country Club and he received the Outstanding Service Award from Volunteer Services of the Lehigh Valley in 2009 and was recipient of the Shining Stars Award from St. Luke's Hospital in 2004.
He was past secretary of Catasauqua Junior Baseball, and loved to follow Catasauqua and Muhlenberg College athletics.
Traveling with his wife was very special to him, especially trips to Stone Harbor.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son Michael D. and his wife, Anne, of Catasauqua; sister-in-law Karen Gogle of Slatington; and nieces and nephews.
