... And the same in U. Mac Ed Earley and Sean Gill are seeking board seat

Two Republicans, former supervisor Ed Earley and incumbent Sean Gill, are seeking their party's nomination in Tuesday's primary for a 6-year term on the Upper Macungie Township Board of Supervisors.

There are no candidates listed on the Democrat side of the ticket.

Gill, who was appointed to the board in December 2014, following the death of Supervisor Sam Ashmar, is completing Ashmar's term, which would have ended in January 2016.

Gill is a board member of the South Parkland Youth Association, coach and township recreation board member.

Earley was chairman of the Upper Macungie Board of Supervisors from 2006-14 and vice chairman of the board from 2002-06

The candidates responded to the League of Womens Voters question: "What do you view as the major issue in this campaign and how will you address it?"

Gill responded: "Plan for the rapid growth and traffic issues in Upper Macungie. Upper Macungie is the fastest growing township in Pennsylvania. We must work collectively with South Whitehall and Lower Macungie Supervisors. I'm personally going to work with all three Townships to make sure we solve today's traffic issues, and have a safe and sound plan for the future while allowing for growth and development that will benefit the residents of Upper Macungie."

Earley replied: "Balancing commercial and residential interests in maintaining the quality of life in Upper Macungie Township, without additional taxation, by exercising due diligence in making decisions."
