WESTERN SALISBURY COLUMN Meet the administrators May 15 and 18

Our new school administrators are hosting Coffee and Conversation 10 to 11 a.m. May 15 and 6 to 7 p.m. May 18 at the district administration building. If you would like to meet and greet Dr. Randy Ziegenfuss, superintendent and Lynn Fuini-Hetten, assistant supertindent, RSVP by May 13 to Mary Bishop at mbishop@stsd.org.

Western Salisbury Elementary is having a Color-a-Thon May 16. Registration starts 8:30 a.m.; the run starts 9:30 a.m. The course will be a total of three kilometers which will run between the elementary school and Salisbury Middle School property.

A free "after party" will follow 10 a.m. to noon at WSE. Free activities include a DJ with music, a magic show 10:30 a.m. and a dunk tank. Concessions will be available for purchase.

To get everyone in the "color" mindset, on May 15 WSE is having a "Most Colorful Outfit" contest. There will be one winner from each homeroom who will receive a free shaved ice at the after party May 16.

Field Day for students in grades three to five will run 1:30 to 3 p.m. May 14 at WSE. It was very hot and sunny for the primary grades, so please make sure the students apply sunscreen, wear sneakers and bring a water bottle.

Field Day for the kindergarteners at WSE will be held May 27.

At 7 p.m. May 20, Stan Griffis will perform his annual magic act where he turns two elementary bands into one. The bands from WSE and Harry S Truman combine for this one concert and it is magical. It amazes me how these students who have never played together before, become united as one body of music. Enjoy!

The last hurrah for the seniors to enjoy is the prom. The night of fun and dancing is going to take place 5 to 11 p.m. May 22.

May 22 is a snow make-up day but with an early dismissal. The high school and middle school will dismiss 12:15 p.m. and the two elementary schools will dismiss 1 p.m.

All Salisbury Township schools will be closed May 25 in observation of Memorial Day.

There is a curriculum committee meeting 7 p.m. May 18 at HST.

The Devonshire yard waste drop-off site will be open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 16 and 19.
