Stewart J. Sell
Stewart J. Sell, 94, of New Tripoli, died May 1, 2015, in The Village at Palmerton.
He was the husband of Helen (Valora) Sell, who died in 1996.
Born May 18, 1920, in Schnecksville, he was the son of the late Fred N. and Florence Grace (Bittner) Sell.
He faithfully and honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran congregation of Heidelberg Union Church, Heidelberg Township.
A skilled metal craftsman, he celebrated more than 30 years of retirement by creating many handmade items for personal, family and friends.
Starting his career working in Lynnport, he helped build what he believed was the first mechanical potato harvester in the late 1940s.
An author, he penned several books about his life, interests and works.
His survivors include companion, Lillian Frick of Palmerton; son Lee D. Sell and companion, Barbara A. Moyer, of Fogels-ville, daughters Nancy A. Hellings and her husband, Charles, of Homosassa, Fla., and Linda S. Fields and her husband, Allen, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sister Shirley A. Smith and her husband, Paul, of Germansville; six grandchildren and their spouses, Jesse Sell of Eugene Ore., Ann Way of Schnecks-ville, Elizabeth Pallotta of Emmaus, Melinda Morgan of Homosassa, Timothy Leibensperger of Muncy, Alison Fields of Norman, Okla.; and four great-grandchildren.
