Melvin Thomas, Sr., 65, of Allentown, formerly of New Orleans, La., died April 23, 2015.

He and his wife Izola (Green) Thomas were married 44 years last December.

A son of the late Rev. Nathaniel and Louise (Davis) Thomas, he honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a self-employed mechanic.

In addition to his beloved wife, he leaves behind to mourn his loss his daughters Laura, Lynnette and Wanette Thomas; sons the Rev. Melvin Thomas Jr. and his wife, Joan, and Terrence Joseph; goddaughter Jocole Rogers sister Virginia Jones; grandchildren Alexuss, Melvin III, Kentricca, Diamanté, Calnisha, Kobe, Lauren, Tatiyana, Jacklyn, and Savannae, and Nathaniel Thomas, Francesca and Gabrielle Rhoads, great-granddaughter Amoni; former daughter-in-law Amy Keller Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters.

His memorial service will be noon May 9 at Keller Funeral Homes Inc. 1018 Church St., Fogels-ville.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-noon. Interment will be private.
