Laurel Fire Co. hosts Roaring '20s party

The Laurel Fire Company is hosting a Roaring '20s party 8-11 p.m. May 16. Included with your ticket purchase is an entry into a costume contest, your first 1920s-style drink, a silent films showcase, a light buffet and an unforgettable night, all for a good cause.

The music for the night will be provided by the live jazz band Jazz Liquidity. They will be performing big band hits such as "The Charleston," "Minnie the Moocher," "Jump Jive and Wail," "Puttin' on the Ritz," "It Had to Be You" and "It Don't Mean a Thang," plus 50 other great jazz tunes from that era.

On another note, the Great Cement Belt Fair is fast approaching. This year the fair will be open 6-10:30 p.m. June 22-27. Some bands for this year include The American Street Band, The Acoustic Project, Little Brass Band of the Lehigh Valley, Steele Creek, ADD and others.

Tuesday night will be kids' night again this year, with performances by magician Tom Yurasits, appearances by the IronPigs' Ferrous and Fefe and a petting zoo.

Wednesday will be Emergency Services night with a live mock car rescue demonstration.

A fabulous fireworks spectacular will be Saturday night.

Join friends and family for Egypt Memorial Park's fourth annual festival on Saturday, May 30. A parade at 10 a.m. down Main Street (Route 329) kicks off the day and will be followed by live band performances, food, children's rides and displays.
